Ac 2009-1770: Assessing Learning Outcomes in a Broadcast Learning Environment: Application of the Dynamics Concepts Inventory
This study investigates the effectiveness of the live interactive broadcast method of delivering engineering content into a standard university classroom. The Dynamics Concepts Inventory, a standardized quantitative assessment, has been administered as a pre-test and final assessment for the broadcast section of dynamics for four semesters. Student attitudes toward the non-standard learning env...
متن کاملDistance Delivery: Impact on Learning
Among the various differences between asynchronous interactions and face-to-face classroom communication, one vital difference involves those that possibly affect the student’s ability to learn. The effectiveness of courses in facilitating instruction and learning is a key concern of all educators involved in or contemplating conducting distance courses. This manuscript explores the impact on l...
متن کاملAc 2007-1808: Interactive Computer-based Virtual Classroom for Engineering Courses
New paradigms in engineering education have emerged in recent years. These educational models emphasize a visual lecturing style and correspond with the growing trend of online courses. A main objective in modernizing engineering education is bridging the gap between academia and industry 1-4 . We propose a new teaching approach, based on these paradigms, that is specially designed for engineer...
متن کاملVitrual Interactivity: Design Factors Affecting Student Satisfaction and Perceived Learning in Asynchronous Online Courses
This paper looks at factors affecting student satisfaction with and perceived learning from asynchronous online learning. It reports on an empirical investigation that explored relationships between student perceptions and course design factors in seventythree SUNY Learning Network courses in the spring, 1999 semester. The study found that three, and only three, general factors – clarity of des...
